BC time change · Updated October 29, 2026

BC stops changing clocks on November 1. Make sure your calendar knows.

Clocks in BC will not fall back this year. BC now runs on Pacific Time (PCT), permanently UTC-7.

Devices and calendars still running the old rules show meetings on or after November 1 one hour off. A meeting booked for 1 pm in Outlook on a PC showed as 2 pm on a phone.

Sunday, November 1 Clocks stay where they are
UTC-7, year-round Pacific Time (PCT)
Nov to March BC runs 1 hour ahead of Seattle

What StillWater is doing

  • Installing the Microsoft time zone update on all managed computers.
  • Moving managed computers and Microsoft 365 mailboxes to the new BC time zone.
  • Monitoring for issues through the first week of November.

This does not change meetings already in your calendar. Meeting organizers update their own meetings. The steps are below.

Before Saturday

Your 3 must-dos

1

Restart

Restart your computer and phone. This finishes installing the updates.

2

Check your time zone

On your computer and in Outlook. Steps in the guides below.

3

Fix your meetings

Update meetings you organized for November 1 onward in Outlook on the web .

Please don't

  • Click "Yes, update" if Outlook asks to change your meeting hours time zone. Choose No . A Microsoft bug hides your availability from colleagues.
  • Move a meeting's start time by an hour to fix it. Change its time zone instead.
  • Change your computer or phone time zone to make a meeting look right.
  • Edit meetings someone else organized. Ask the organizer.
  • Fix meetings from a phone, Apple Calendar or Outlook for Mac. Use Outlook on the web.

Step-by-step

Guides

Check your settings

Check your Windows computer
  1. Right-click the clock on the taskbar and choose Adjust date and time (or Settings > Time & language > Date & time ).
  2. Time zone should read (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) .
  3. Showing (UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada) ? Restart and check again. Still wrong? Contact us.
  4. Showing (UTC-07:00) Yukon ? Leave it. Yukon runs the same time as BC.

In the time zone list, the BC zone sits just above the UTC-08:00 entries, not with the other UTC-07:00 zones.

Check your Mac
  1. Install the latest macOS update and restart.
  2. System Settings > General > Date & Time . Your time zone should be Vancouver . Apple applies the new rules under the city name.
  3. Outlook for Mac: don't select the new "British Columbia" option yet. Create and fix meetings in Outlook on the web.
Check your iPhone or Android

iPhone

  1. Settings > General > Software Update . Install any update and restart.
  2. Settings > General > Date & Time . Leave Set Automatically on.

Android

  1. Settings > System > Software update . Install any update and restart.
  2. Settings > System > Date & time . Leave automatic time and time zone on.

Phone calendar apps sometimes show November meetings an hour off and won't let you change a meeting's time zone. Make all fixes in Outlook on the web.

Check your Outlook time zone

Outlook on the web and new Outlook

  1. Open Settings (gear icon) > Calendar > View .
  2. Scroll to Time zones .
  3. Display my calendar in time zone should be (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) . If not, select it and click Save . The BC zone appears near the top of the list, not in number order.
  4. If Outlook then asks to update your meeting hours time zone, click No .

Classic Outlook (Windows)

  • Classic Outlook follows your Windows time zone. Once Windows is correct, Outlook is correct.
  • To confirm: File > Options > Calendar > Time zones .
  • New meetings showing (UTC-07:00) Yukon ? That's fine. Same time as BC.
  • Colleagues say your availability isn't showing? Contact us. We'll correct it.

Fix your meetings

Fix a single meeting you organized

Use Outlook on the web: outlook.office.com . Applies to meetings on or after November 1.

  1. Open the meeting and click the date and time .
  2. Click the globe icon beside the time.
  3. Change the time zone to (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) .
  4. A Reset Time Zones box appears. Click Yes .
  5. Confirm the time reads correctly, then click Send (or Save with no attendees). Attendees get the update automatically.

Meeting with a room? Check the room's reply after sending. If it declines, cancel and rebook.

Fix a recurring meeting you organized

Important: changing a series' time zone resets any single occurrences you moved or cancelled. Note them first.

  1. In Outlook on the web, open any meeting in the series and click Show all instances . Write down any moved or cancelled occurrences, then click Back to event details .
  2. Click Edit series .
  3. Click the date and time , then the globe icon . Select (UTC-07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) .
  4. Click Yes on the Reset Time Zones box.
  5. Click Send , then Save on the Edit series box.
  6. Reopen Show all instances . Re-apply the changes you noted and make sure cancelled occurrences didn't come back.

Series with no end date

The time zone won't change on a series with no end date. Set an end date first, save, then follow the steps above.

Long or heavily changed series

Simpler option: end the series on October 31 and create a new one starting November 1 in the BC time zone.

Shared calendars, assistants and large meetings
  • Shared mailbox calendars: in Outlook on the web, click Add calendar , search for the shared mailbox and add it. Then fix its meetings using the steps above.
  • Assistants and delegates: same steps on the calendars you manage. Private meetings you can't open must be fixed by the calendar owner.
  • Many meetings with many attendees: every update sends an email to each attendee. Updating dozens of large meetings at once hits Microsoft's sending limits and blocks your mailbox. Contact us first and we'll plan it with you.

Other apps

Gmail and Google Calendar

Gmail is unaffected. Google is moving most affected calendar events back to the right time automatically. A few need you.

  1. Open Google Calendar in a web browser . The fix tools only appear on the web, not the phone app.
  2. Settings (gear) > General > Time zone . Primary time zone should be Vancouver / Pacific Time.
  3. Scroll from November 1 forward. On any event with a warning banner, click Move one hour earlier , or Keep current time if already right.
  4. Recurring events with changed instances: fix each changed instance by hand.
  5. Invites from Outlook users aren't auto-fixed. The organizer fixes those.
  6. Room bookings: watch for decline emails and rebook right away.
Calendly
  1. Fix Windows and Outlook first. Calendly reads and writes your Outlook calendar.
  2. Availability : open each schedule, set the time zone to Vancouver , save. Do not use "Pacific Time - US & Canada".
  3. Test: book yourself a meeting after November 1 in a private browser window. Booking page, confirmation email and Outlook must all match. Cancel the test.
  4. Scheduled Events > Upcoming : compare against Outlook. Reschedule or confirm any mismatch with the invitee.
  5. Same slot booked twice? Send screenshots to support@calendly.com.
monday.com

monday.com has not published guidance. Test before you trust it.

  1. Click your avatar > My profile and note your time zone.
  2. Create a test item dated November 4 at 1 pm. Check it on desktop, the mobile app and any synced calendar.
  3. Wrong time? Set your profile time zone to Arizona (Phoenix) or Yukon (Whitehorse) . Both run UTC-7 year-round, the same as BC.
  4. Review time-based automations for anything scheduled after November 1.
  5. Each user sets their own time zone. Every BC user on your team needs to check.

Other regions and outside contacts

Alberta, East Kootenay and Northwest Territories

These areas also stop changing clocks on November 1 and stay on UTC-6. Follow the same steps with these zones:

  • Windows and Outlook: (UTC-06:00) Mountain Time (Alberta) . This also covers Cranbrook, Fernie, Invermere, Kimberley, Yellowknife and Inuvik.
  • Not available yet? Use (UTC-06:00) Saskatchewan temporarily.
  • Calendly and monday.com: Saskatchewan (Regina) until an Alberta option appears.
Meetings with people outside BC
  • From November 1 to March, BC runs one hour ahead of Washington, Oregon and California. A 9:00 meeting set in Seattle shows as 10:00 for you. That's correct.
  • Invited by someone else? Leave the meeting alone. Only the organizer updates it.
  • Confirm the time of important cross-border meetings with attendees. Adding the BC time to the title helps, for example "10:00 am PCT".
